Sunshine Stars Football Club of Ondo state started the Nigeria professional football league NPFL season with a win after defeating visiting Kano Pillars Football Club 1-0.
The match was decided at the Ondo State Sports Complex, Akure, with Sunshine Stars scoring the first goal of the season courtesy of Oge Emmanuel in the 8th minute.
Speaking shortly after the match,Sunshine Stars Head Coach, Edith Agoye, described his team’s performance against Pillars as technical.
The former shooting stars coach said also posited that the team has all that it takes to be at par with any team in the Nigeria domestic league.
Coach Agoye said his team would go back to work and improve on their goal scoring abilities in subsequent matches.
Also the Head Coach of Kano Pillars, Abdul Maikaba,who showered praises on the two teams also hinted journalists that his team would correct mistakes made for better results in the remaining matches of the season.
Sunshine stars will next face Lóbí stars of Makurdi at the Lafia township stadium in their next game.
