Five top women basketball teams in Nigeria have called for a shift in the proposed date scheduled for the 2023 Nigeria basketball federation NBBF/Zenith league (Atlantic conference)phase one, earlier scheduled for the indoor sports hall of the Akure sports complex Ondo State.

According to the release by the NBBF secretary general Njoku Peter the one week championship(August 21-27) was moved from Akure Ondo state to Port Harcourt, Rivers State, due to facility challenge which has to do with the leakage of a small part of the hall which was not resolved between the organisers of the game NBBF and the host state.

Meanwhile the coaches in a release lamented the short notice which was about 48 hours to the arrival of teams for the championship and have since affected thier accommodation arrangement, transportation booking and other logistics for the championship proper.

The coaches who signed the release included Engineer Tunde Babalola(First deep water) Coach Akojie Benson (Delta Force) Coach Oladele Akiwande(MFM),Coach Olawale David (Dolphins)Coach Sola Aluko (Sunshine Angels).

The coaches appealed to the board of the Nigeria basketball federation to give attention to the plea of the coaches for a shift in the date for the overall development of the game of dunk and slam in the country.
