It is not clear yet, but reports have it that Rivers United manager, Stanley Eguma may have been abducted by unknown bandits on Tuesday.
The team was in Gombe to play a League game on Sunday against Adamawa United and a person who should know, revealed to NigerianFootballer.com that Eguma did not return to Port Harcourt as he was abducted around the Enugu axis on his way back.
There is no official confirmation from the club, but two impeccable sources within the club have confirmed the story to be true.
“Coach did not return with us. You know he drives in his own official car. We just heard this and we are waiting to hear from the club management,” our source said under condition of anonymity.
Eguma was said to be travelling with two of his Personal Assistants and it is not now known if they were abducted alongside him or have been released.
Eguma’s is the second high profile kidnapping of a League coach in recent times after Abdulahi Biffo spent about a month in kidnappers den some time ago.
