The Convener of Ondo State Football Stakeholders, Otunba Dele Ologbese, has called on Ondo State Government to set up a properly constituted Board in line with Enabling law establishing Ondo State Football Development Agency with Ministry of Youths and Sports as Supervisory Body.
Ologbese stated this in a press statement made available to newsmen on…….in Akure that teams under the Ondo State Football Agency would do much more better with proper Board in place.
According to Ologbese, the Interim Management Committee in ODSFA as presently constituted is against extant laws and should immediately give way to a legally constituted Board comprising of relevant bodies like Ondo FA, SWAN and Commissioner for Sports as Supervisor in line with Enabling law.
Ologbese, who was Immediate Past Ondo FA Vice Chairman berated ODSFA Management Committee for sidelining FA in most of its activities and programmes which consequently had affected fortunes of Sunshine Stars and Sunshine Queens gravely.
Ologbese, who was former Member, NFF Committee on Protocols and Ceremonials however said he was very happy Sunshine Stars escaped safety but noted they were just three points away from being relegated and the female side, Sunshine Queens were relegated to lower league for the first time in their history.
He noted that the Agency, who has an Interim Management Committee, headed by the Deputy Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa as the Chairman needed a pronounced Board to be put in place.
Ologbese also noted that the team needed to prepare well ahead of incoming season by tiding up loose ends like players’ contracts, signing of new players among others.
“It is highly regrettable ODSFA Management failed to forge good working relationships with Ondo FA, which could have brought synegy of cooperations, understandings and immeasurable harmony between both parties which consequently could have improved fortunes of the two State’s teams.
“I have no doubt that FA plays pivotal roles in club’s administrations, being official intermediary between it and Clubs on one hand and between it, Agency and NFF on the other.
“In order to achieve well coordinated football administration in the State, concerted efforts should be intensified towards improvements of cordial working relationships between State owned Clubs Management and FA,” he said.
Ologbese, who is President of Ologbese Football Academy, canvassed for putting in place Code of Conduct or Ethics for players and their technical crews towards bringing sanity into administration of the two clubs and also to boost their performances.
“I have no doubt that this bold effort would make players and their officials be exceedingly alived to their responsibilities and also instil disciplines into the teams towards enhancements of their productivities”, he said.
