                                                           M&V BOARD GAME

The present level of lack of interest and awareness about our cultural heritage that promotes our cultural and transitional value is dropping and gradually going into extinction.

Family bonding and togetherness that forestall and instigate family values into children is lacking to address the above according to the Programme Director of,Creating for Life Initiative (CFLI), a non-governmental organisation into Youth Mentoring and Empowerment, has designed a new board game known as M&V Board Game which is proudly Nigerian.

The theme of the board game derives from morals, values and promotion of Nigerian tourist potentials.

Each edition of the board game is to have a mentor who will feature prominently in the elements and mechanics of the game.

Right now, a survey is ongoing for the maiden edition mentor of the board game.

The M and V is the third in the series of human developmental and resource materials that provides subtle information on information and education to the players and audience like the Choice Board game used to provide information and sensitisation on HIV/AIDS to athletes and participants at the 6th National Sport Festival in Ogun state, the Centenary Board game used to celebrate Nigeria at 50.

Board game has been widely acknowledged as a simple way to break the ice.

As a sporting event, board games have the following attributes and many more; (a) Inculcates the ability to focus and lengthen attention span especially in young people, (b) Teaches important social skills such as communicating verbally, sharing, waiting and enjoying interaction with others without overtly being academic, (c) Provides meta messages and life skills; the message inherent in board games is; Never give up, remain dogged, (d) Helps young people to weave their wild and erratic side into a matured and acceptable personality by creating distinct boundaries, (e) Internalizes the rules of fair play , tenuous as they may seem to anyone who is losing a game, (f) Develops and sharpens cognitive ability, (g) imparts knowledge in a manner that is unpressured and subliminal.

Over the years, cultures and values have played dominant roles in the designing of board games.

Some of the most played board games includes; Monopoly, Chess, Scrabble, Trivial pursuit, Settlers of catan, Ludo, etc. Each board game belonging to a particular genre.

M&V Board Game outside its traditional role of being a family board game, will be dominant in existing schools’ social clubs activities , sporting competitions, family shows and so on.

At the moment, CFLI has as its partners National Orientation Agency (NOA), National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) and Nigerian Tourism Development Corporation (NTDC).

Many more partners will be joining in the coming days.

The Prooject Director of the organization Mr. Abdullrahman Orosonya affirmed that pilot activities are ongoing in some selected communities and schools in Lagos state. According to him, a date for the official unveiling of the project will be communicated to the general public in due time.
