The First Lagos Veterans Basketball Club competition which started on Saturday the 30th of September came to a glorious end on Sunday the 1st of October which marks our national independence day.

Six teams participated in the competition After 7 Basketball from Ghana, ANBB from the Philippines, Veterans of Abuja, Kwara Basketball Veterans, Oyo Basketball Veterans, and the host (First Lagos Veterans Basketball Club).

The top two finalists from last year’s edition, After 7 Basketball of Ghana, and the bragging rights owner from the previous edition were eliminated in the group stage.

ANBB from the Philippines were a surprise powerhouse during this edition as they got to the finals in style but lost to Kwara Basketball Veterans (43-46).

The female exhibition game between the Dolphins Basketball Club and the Hoop Dreams team from Ibadan ended in favor of the Dolphins who showed class to dominate the visitors (22-17).

After the final games, there was an Awards Nite during which recognition plaques were presented to Masai Uriji (Toronto Raptors President), Ayodele Bakare (Proprietor and Coach Comets Basketball), Mohammed Shehu (Proprietor Mo Heats Basketball), Opeyemi Babalola (Webber Engineering), and Kunle Afolayan (Ace Nollywood Director and Producer).
