The Leadership and members of People United By Sports (PUBS) has met with leadership of Sports Writers Association of Nigeria, (SWAN), Ondo State chapter, as part of efforts to engender stronger ties and grow both associations.
The Chairman of SWAN,Segun Giwa, while speaking at the meeting commended the group of young men that have been supporting the growth of different sports in the state
Giwa said notably amongst the achievements of the group are; donating jerseys and training kits to Sunshine Stars and Queens, involvement in Arabirin Betty Akeredolu Tennis Club, Sponsoring participation in the Bet9ja Teqball competition among others.
The chairman urged the group not to forget sports writers in their positive contribution to sports development in the state by extending their hands of fellowship to sports journalists, so that the already existing partnership would be stronger.
“We know your impact and the important role each member of your association is playing in sports development, which I likened to giving back to the society.
“I will urge you not to relent and also ask you not to forget members of this noble association in the state, as you know we are important to sport development,” he said.
Responding, The President of PUBS, Seun Betiku acknowledged the progress made under the leadership of the association (SWAN).
Betiku, who appreciated the leadership of the association for noticing the progress of the group, said it would spur them to do more for sports development.
The president, who is also the Team Manager of Sunshine Stars, assured sports writers in the state that the group would come in and support the association soon.
