The President of the Nigerian Pro Wrestling Federation, High Chief John O. Uche has announced the fixed dates for the Presidential proposed pro wrestling Fight Against Corruption tagged ’’BATTLEGROUND 2021’’ billed to commence on the 13th March 2021, the day the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, President Muhammadu Buhari GCFR will unveil the event at Abuja, the federal capital territory.
According to the President of the national sport body, ’’the Nigerian Pro Wrestling Federation is going to be a change agent to turn he restive youths into the hope of the future national sports development. The federation also has plans to build an academy for youths where they can be training at a conducive atmosphere for sports development locally while considering sustainable advertisement and get our videos to be shown locally and internationally’’ he explained.
“The unveiling of the championship will take place in Abuja first where President Muhammadu Buhari will flag off the show before other states. As we are expecting home based media houses to key into the championship, DSTV is ready to partner with us so as to have a successful event in the month of March for the unveiling and from 10th April to 1st May 2021 for the championship proper in Lagos, Delta, Ebonyi, Imo, Kano, Akwa Ibom and Kano states respectively”, he concluded.
On the readiness of the Nigerian wrestlers, Chief Vincent Dimanozie (Iron Bone) made a roll call of wrestlers already training to participate in the national event championship as: Mighty Man, Flying Dan Ko, Mr. Sharpman, Power Vic, Zion Lion, De Squeezer, Rocky Johnson, Strong Bone Erujeje, and on the ladies: Tina Terror, Lady Bunmi, Iron Lady Becky, Stylish ’’J’’ and Alexandra the Queen to mention but few.
‘’Two belts in the heavyweight and light heavyweight categories are already available while the local organizing committee have promised to get more before the championship as champions will emerge from different categories after the event. It will definitely be needful to get more titles as winners must emerge in other weight categories of cruiser weight, middleweight tag team and the ladies champion’’ the president concluded.
