In order to keep the ball rolling and ensure that their country is fully integrated into the mainstream of professional wrestling, the newly inaugurated management team of the Benin Republic Pro- Wrestling Federation has announced that they’ll be organising a training session for West African mats men from October 18-20, 2024.
They arrived at the decision on Monday, September, 16 after a close door meeting with the Secretary General of Pro-Wrestling Africa, Olusesan Olukoya.
The meeting which was convened to review the inauguration of professional wrestling in the country which took place on Saturday, September 7, took important decisions on how to move the game forward in the French speaking nation.
Speaking at the meeting, President of the Federation, Oke Ezechiel commended Pro- Wrestling Africa, Golden Wrestling Federacy and Allied Independent Wrestling Federations for their support towards the successful inauguration of the game in the country and charged the wrestling bodies to go the extra mile in supporting the training programme in all ramifications to make it a huge success just like that of Togo held on the 1st – 3rd March 2024.
” I must have to commend Pro- Wrestling Africa, Golden Wrestling Federacy based in Florida United States and Allied Independent Wrestling Federations for your supporting in making sure that professional wrestling takes a foothold in our country.
” As we plan to host other West African countries in a training programme slated for October 18-20 this year, we urge you to extend to us the same support you extended to Togo when they had their own training early this year in Lome, as we believe that your support will go a long way in helping us move the game forward in our country”, he stressed.
In his own remarks, the Vice President of the Federation, Wanvoegbe Germain spoke on the importance of the training and later took the executive members present at the meeting to inspect a suitable venue for the training, after which, he was advised to get another venue for the national event.
Earlier in his speech, Secretary General of Pro-Wrestling Africa Olusesan Olukoya expressed happiness with the zeal the executive members are carrying out their duty charging them not to relent in ensuring that the game is given prominence in the country.
He noted that his body in conjunction with Golden Wrestling Federacy and Allied Independent Wrestling Federations will continue to render support to the Federation, assuring them that the bodies will be fully involved in the forthcoming training.
” I’m really excited that few weeks after your inauguration, you’re already planning to have a training programme which is a good development.
” We at PWA, GWF and AIWF will always support you to succeed because we want to take this game to all the nooks and crannies of Africa. So, my promise is that we’ll ensure a successful organisation of the training just as we did in Togo some few months ago”, he concluded.
