Ondo State executive council has approved the reconstruction if the Akure sports complex.
Speaking with journalists at the governors office Alagbaka Akure, Ondo state commissioner for youth and sports development Mr Saka Yusuf-Ogunleye said the approval would end the numerous infrastructural challenges at the sports complex which would cost the sum of Nine hundred and eighty million naira.
Mr Ogunleye who expressed delight over the new development said the upgrade would affect the construction of a new tartan track for athletes, renovation of volleyball and basketball court among others.
Mr Ogunleye said the main bowl of the Akure sports complex would also witness upgrade to avoid the constant clash with the Nigeria Premier Football League NPFL facility inspection team.
The commissioner appreciated Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa for his passion for sports development in the state stressing that such would help in the discovery and attracting raw talent in the state.
Responding,the Ondo state commissioner for land and housing Mr Akinwunmi Sowore said all logistics for the renovation of the facilities have been captured and work is expected to commence soon.
