ENDSARS Protest: Kanu Nwakwo, 49 Others Dragged To Abuja Magistrate Court

In its determination to silcence the #ENDSARS promoters, Nigeria’s federal government has taken former Africa Footballer of the Year and Arsenal Legend, Kanu Nwakwo to court, Bestchoicesports.com.ng can report

In the suit made on Monday, November 9, 2020, and instituted by one activist, Kenechukwu Okeke, who filed a criminal complaint before a Chief Magistrate’s court in Abuja against 50 persons for their alleged roles in the #EndSARS protests that took place last month

Listed on the suit were top Nigeria musicians, comedians, Nollywood actors and actresses and celebrities among the defendants.

Also sued in the suit were Nigeria’s musicians such as Innocent Idibia, Aka 2Face: Peter and Paul Okoye of the defunct PSquare, Yemi Eberechi Alade, and Uche Jombo.

Others are Nigeria Nollywood screen god, Yul Edochie, Davido, Sam Adeyemi, among others

In October, Nigeria government was brought to a standstill following nationwide protest against a unit of the Nigeria Police Force, Special Anti-Robbery Squads, SARS. SARS was accused of impunity, jungle justice, extortion and highhandedness by the youths who took to streets in various cities across the federation to demand for the disbandment of the SARS.

Most Nigerian celebraties, musicians, Nollywood actors/acteresses joined the protest which lasted for three weeks.

The climax of the protest was the massacre of the hapless and innocent youths who gathered at the Lekkigate in Lagos on October 10, 2020 to protest peacefully against SARS brutality.

Following attacks and destruction of property by sponsored hoodlums who hijacked the protest, the Lagos State govrnment issued a dusk to dawn curfew in the state.

But the youth remained resolute and refused to bulge.

Consequently, the Nigerian army was drafted to the Lekki gate at around 6pm who opened fire on the youth and killed tens of the protesters.

Kanu Nwakwo led the Nigeria Dream Team to her first Olympic Gold medal in Atlanta 1996. He is a decorated former footballer who won the UEFA Champions League, the FA Cup, and a host of other trophies.

When contact for his comment, Kanu Nwakwo’s representatives told our correspondent that the 1995 UEFA Champions League winner travelled out of the country.
