The Moyero Group and Sunshine Stars FC, as well as the visiting scout from Switzerland have expressed satisfaction with the outcome of the Moyero FC scouting tournament which climaxes on Thursday in Akure.
The programme attracted over 250 players from 13 clubs, drawing to a close with Sunshine Stars A & B teams taking on Moyero FC I & II sides beefed up by outstanding players selected from the other participating teams.
Shortly after the matches at the Ondo State Sports Complex, a briefing was held at the office of the Commissioner for Sports in Ondo State, Hon Dele Ologun, there both the leadership of Sunshine Stars and the Moyero group talked up the prospects of their partnership and the imminent gains of the scouting tourney.
Also during the brief, Honourable Ologun restated that Sunshine Stars remain open to more partnership and possible investors under some certain conditions, explaining it’s no-brainer that the Club entered into partnership with Moyero at this time.
“Every great thing has a little beginning and Rome was not built in a day, it is our hope this is part of the beginning of bigger and better Sunshine Stars. We are happy that the programme is a success. The decision to partner the Moyero Group at this time is so easy given their track record in over two decades. We are leveraging on Moyero’s experience and network to generate income through the transfer of our players abroad.
“You will agree with me that government cannot do it all alone and that’s why we are ready for more partnership and willing to welcome anyone ready to invest in the Club provided the team remain domiciled in Akure to keep serving as a means of employment and empowerment for our people in Ondo State.” The Commissioner for Youth and Sports added.
While also fielding questions from Sports Writers at the briefing, the CEO of Moyero Group, Chief Lanre Moyero assured stakeholders that in no distance time the scouting programme and his company’s partnership with Sunshine Stars will yield dividends for all involved.
“Football is a big business and it’s a good thing that the management of Sunshine Stars through the leadership of the Honourable Commssioner are seeing as such. I can assure you that the scouting programme and our collaboration is going to bring a lot economically to the government. Apart from the shortlisted players, our partner here (the scout) is willing to provide assistance in terms of equipments and bring foreign investment to Sunshine.” Moyero said.
The Swiss-Italian scout was left impressed with the array of talents spotted during the five-day programme, however he harped on the need to embrace the use of technology such as data, GPS, educational coaching and nutrition in order to harness, harmonise and maximise the potentials of the gifted players in the land.
The Head of Operations, Moyero Group and two time Sunshine Stars administrator, Hon Akin Akinbobola said the next programme involving the Owena Whales and Moyero FC will be coming up imminently.
