Representatives of Nigeria Squash Federation (NSF) made up of the President, Engr Boye Oyerinde, Vice President, CSP Yakubu Mailafiya, Technical Director, Jonah Attah, Secretary, Mrs Monica Otumala, Media Officer, Uchenna Uba paid a courtesy call on the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in his office at the Defence Headquarters.
We were given a wonderful reception with all the CDS military Directors in attendance for the meeting.
NSF team was in CDS office to solicit for two major issues:
- Revival of CDS Annual Squash tournament which will include a PSA men and women tournament, and the juniors categories.
The CDS and his team expressed their interest in partnering with NSF to make the tournament a reality.
He also promised to setup a committee that will interface with NSF on the tournament.
- NSF also pleaded with the CDS to grant NSF access to their squash courts in the barracks across the country and in return, NSF will send a team for overall success of the signed deal.
It is the general believe that the historic signed agreement would further reposition the game of squash, encourage players and also help in identifying more younger talents across the country.
