OLYMPIC DAY RUN 2023: Acting Gov’ Ayedatiwa Assures More Support For Athletes

Ondo State Acting Governor, Mr Lucky Aiyedatiwa, says the present adminstration of governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu will continue to prioritise sports and give more attention to the welfare of athletes in the state.

Mr Aiyedatiwa stated this in his speech while commemorating the 2023 Olympic Day Run which took play at the Ondo State Sports Complex, Akure.

The acting governor emphasized that sports was a good avenue for social interaction and integration amongst youths in the state and country at large.

While appreciating athletes that have participated at the Olympics especially from Ondo State for their patriotism said the state government would continue to explore the numerous advantages and objective of the Olympic celebration which among others was to promote national unity and grassroots sports development in the country

Earlier in his welcome address, the Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development,Mr Bamidele Ologunloluwa, said the sustainability of the event was an indication that sport is an instrument for the promotion of global peace.

Also, the representative of the Nigeria Olympic Committee, Mr Sylvester Ikuejamoye, reminded the participants that sport keeps the mind and body strong and healthy hence regular exercise should be encouraged.
