To upgrade Akure Sports Complex
Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu of Ondo state has promised to make Ondo State Sports Complex more spacious to allow more sporting activities in the state
The governor stated this while playing host to the state leadership of Sports Writers Association of Nigeria, SWAN in his office in Akure.
Governor Akeredolu maintained that when the stadium became more attractive and appealing, the athletes, and sportsmen would perform better.
The Governor commended the athletes and sportsmen as well as sports lovers in the state for doing well despite minimum financial supports from the state government.
Promising not to only upgrade but to give total support for sports activities as soon as the state revenue became buoyant, governor Akeredolu advised the Sports Writers to continue to give adequate coverage to athletes in the state.
Earlier, the SWAN Chairman, Mr Wahab Bankole, observed that the state sports had greatly improved since the inception of Governor Akeredolu led administration
According to Mr Bankole, reasonable numbers of state players are currently representing the national team at various capacities such as volleyball, hockey, wrestling, tennis, football, and others.
The association also invited Governor Akeredolu for an upcoming event slated for March 5th this year where an award of Life Patron would be conferred on the governor following his positive disposition towards sports in the state
